From the time I was little, my family went to Montana to backpack and to fly fish. Dry fly fishing is a part of the fiber of our hearts, and from the time my children could walk, my husband was teaching them to cast a line in Montana. We usually see brown trout or rainbows, but then every once in a while, when we reel the fish in, the vibrant orange of a Yellowstone cutthroat greets us. These beautiful fish are a treasure, and while catching them is always a gift, setting them free to swim another day is what we value most.
This greeting card features a watercolor Yellowstone cutthroat trout design printed on a high-quality linen card. The cards with prose have text that reads:
“YELLOWSTONE CUTTHROAT TROUT | Oncorhynchus clarkii bouvieri | Dominant trout species in Yellowstone Park before settlement | Source of food for 16 species of birds and mammals | Red marking along jaw | Highly variable black spotting pattern | Require cold clean water of streams and lakes”
